Spring is coming!
We've been patiently awaiting warmer weather during the cold winter months. As exciting as this weather shift may be, we need to remember that it can also wreak havoc by causing large amounts of flooding. As heavy rains come upon us, they can cause overflows of rivers, streams, lakes and in turn affect nearby homes and businesses. Heavy rains will not be able to get absorbed as the ground is not completely thawed. Ice jams will also occur as rivers and streams start thawing due to warmer temperatures. Thus as spring comes upon us, be sure to keep United Services in mind, as we've been effectively handling flood problems for over 30 years!
Here is a great article on flood risks associated with spring's thaw from the National Flood Insurance Program created by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
