Gary Swenson Presented 2011 M. Dennis Jensen Award

Disaster Kleenup International (DKI), LLC, North America’s largest disaster restoration contracting organization, today announced that Gary Swenson, President of United Services by Permaco Inc. of Lake Bluff, Illinois, was presented with the 2011 M. Dennis Jensen Award at the DKI Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, after Insights 2012: The DKI Conference and Tradeshow concluded in Austin, Texas.

The M. Dennis Jensen Award is given in “recognition of unique contributions by an individual to the DKI organization and its membership.” Candidates are generally drawn from the DKI membership. The criteria used to identify a deserving award recipient include a commitment to maintaining the highest level of performance within their own company, a commitment to the success of the DKI membership as a unified body, a commitment to the formal education of all DKI members, involvement in greater industry initiatives, and identifiable contributions that advance the DKI organization forward.

United Services by Permaco Inc. has been a DKI member for over 15 years and during that time, Swenson has had continuous involvement in the organization at a member level, as well as at a leadership level.

Swenson is known for being an outspoken and loyal representative for the whole membership, as well as the DKI corporate organization itself. His mastery of communications has placed him in the forefront of most, if not all, town hall meetings, as well as chapter and national events hosted by DKI.

“It is not just his communications skills; it is also about integrity. He has always represented this organization at the highest level,” said Dale Sailer, president of DKI, who presented the award. “He is known and respected to be pure against personal agendas or gain, and will tell it like it is for the benefit and good of the whole, without regard for fear of personal feelings or repercussions that might be leveraged against him.
Today, Swenson continues to take a leadership position in encouraging other members to follow in that process. He has consistently been a sounding board for the organization’s leadership in broaching ideas and concepts during development and prior to introduction to the membership as a whole.

“Those in the organization who surround him would have to agree that because of his positive influence, because of his gift of communications, and because of his perpetual contributions to DKI - he is largely responsible for sculpting the organization and the membership that is represented here today,” added Sailer.

Swenson was greeted with a standing ovation from his peers when his name was announced as this year’s recipient.

His company, United Services by Permaco Inc., has provided insurance restoration in the Lake Bluff marketplace since 1981, and has been a DKI Member since 1996.
