Loss Description:
The fire started in the garage and grew to burn up the rear quarter of the house causing significant structural and smoke damage throughout the entire house. In the event of such a tragedy it is the homeowner’s responsibility to secure their home for the safety of people and property. So, they called United Service’s board up division, 1-800-BoardUp.
Unique Issues:
A fire-damaged building may present a significant safety hazard to the community. All doors and windows had to be boarded up quickly to prevent the home and its contents from further damage. The structural stability of the building also had to be assessed to insure the safety of those who needed to go inside.

Job Elements:
Our board up crew was on the scene within 1 hour of the homeowners' call. Project Leader Tim Olk assessed the damage to determine the best strategy for the board up. Tim and his team then worked into the night using tarps and plywood to board up the garage, roof and outer walls of the damaged areas.
